Our Mission is to walk with people across the generations to create together places to live, learn, and thrive. We call out injustice and advocate for positive social change.
About you
We are seeking an experienced and community-minded director who will enhance our already strong and high-profile governance team and who is willing to partner with us on our vision, mission, and transformation journey.
Ideally, you will be experienced in one or more of these key areas:
- Business, finance, and accounting
- Management and delivery of health services
- Strategic planning
- Relationship building with key stakeholders
- Commercial and organisational management
- Bi-cultural development and partnership
PSO is committed to recognising and honouring our obligations and responsibilities under Te Tiriti o Waitangi by building cultural competency across our Board, Senior Leadership Team, and Managers, and all of PSO services.
We have one or two positions available and for at least one of these positions, we are seeking someone who will help us to deepen and strengthen our commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi. We would love to have representation from Ngāi Tahu as mana whenua or alternatively board members who are otherwise well connected with local iwi, understand iwi aspirations, familiar with Te Reo Māori and relevant tikanga and who will bring an intergenerational approach to governance. To aid this, we would consider a governance internship for anyone wanting to develop a governance career.
About this position
Our Board members are volunteers appointed for their diverse skills, knowledge, and experience. You will help establish and plan the future direction of PSO, guided by its Vision, Mission, and Values.
You will have a key role in monitoring the achievement of our strategic goals and objectives, and our financial viability. Board members also monitor PSO’s statutory responsibilities and have input into risk management.
The Board meeting approximately 11 times a year for 2 to 4 hours per meeting, in Dunedin. PSO has robust director and officer insurance policies in place for its Board.
